FOR THE BLIND MAN - On Not Knowing in Art
A SPIN night is a public event put together by an artist around a topic or a question that has emerged from his/her artistic practice. This SPIN night#4 is compiled by Hans Bryssinck and Diederik Peeters. In their work they regularly flirt with what they don't know, don't understand or can't control. This generates a not entirely unwelcome confusion, both for them themselves and for their audience. In this 4th SPIN night they investigate the potential of not-knowing and confusion.
The evening is conceived as an animated roundtable conversation. Klaas Tindemans currently works as a dramaturg and theatre scholar, but was originally trained as a philosopher of law. He will elaborate on the meaning of interpretation, paradoxes and absolute security within law. Two compaƱeros, the "non-professional" audience of Buda Kunstencentrum in Kortrijk, join the discussion, as well as the artists Sara Manente, Danai Anesiadou, Christoph Meierhans and Adva Zakai who will enlighten us about the darker moments of the creative process. And finally, to enforce (or contradict) some of the arguments at stake, a selection of artist books, exhibition catalogues and films, of Mette Edvardsen, Harald Theys & Jos de Gruyter among others, are brought to the table.
